Holding your hand in the white storm

E’ una sera d’Inverno…Londra e’ avvolta nel candore della neve… The Mall lungo Saint James’ Park, surrealmente silenzioso, sembra aver perso la propria identita’, appare come un viale alberato di una localita’ indefinita, in un tempo indefinito. I colori brillanti del parco sembrano essersi dissolti nella radiosita’ del bianco e nell’intenso bistre dei rami spogli. Le acque ghiacciate del lago appaiono come isole di cristallo su cui si accoccolano anatroccoli e cigni bianchi.
Mentre lascio Saint James’, la mia attenzione viene attratta da una famiglia che cammina sulla neve tenendosi per mano. Vorrei tanto fotografarli tutti e tre ma il padre interrompe la fila camminando davanti alla bambina e non sara’ visibile negli scatti. Continuo a scattare mentre la neve scende copiosa, finche’ la donna e la sua piccola appaiono come due sagome in lontananza, indefinite come la cornice in cui si allontanano.
Ho intitolato quell’istante “Holding your hand in the white storm”. Nel video “London – Bridge of Emotions” l’immagine e’ accompagnata dalla note dolci e setose del brano “L’uomo che Amava I Draghi” del Maestro Lorenzo Pescini. Nel creare l’editing del video, Sandro Sansone ha scelto questo scatto come “l’istante” con cui cominciare il racconto. Vi auguro una buona visione e spero che le emozioni da cui ha preso corpo il video possano rendere ancor piu’ dolce la vostra giornata.

It’s a winter evening…London is enveloped in the candour of the snow…The Mall along Saint James’ Park, surreally silent, seems to have lost its identity, appearing as an avenue in an undefined place of an undefined time. The brilliant colours of the park seem to have been dissolved into the radiance of the white and the intense bistre of the bare branches. The icy waters of the lake appear as crystal islands on which ducklings and white swans cuddle sweetly.
While leaving Saint James’, a family who walks on the snow holding each other’s hands attracts my attention. I would love to photograph all the three of them but the father breaks the row by walking in front of the little girl and he will not be visible in my shots.
I keep shooting while the snow falls profusely, until the woman and her little girl appear just as two figures in the distance, undefined just as the frame in which they are walking away.
I entitled this instant “Holding your hand in the white storm”. In the video “London – Bridge of Emotions” this image is accompanied by the sweet and silky notes of the piece “The Man Who Loved Dragons” by Maestro Lorenzo Pescini.
In editing the video, Sandro Sansone chose this shot as the “instant” with which starting the tale.
