Recollection in tranquillity

Perdersi fra i temperati colori dei Kew Gardens in un pomeriggio invernale, e’ come ritrovarsi in un paradiso di amenita’ e pace. Qui il fragore della citta’ tace per dar voce alla dolce musicalita’ dei pettirossi. Tra i pallidi bucaneve coperti di rugiada, sotto la maestosita’ delle quercie, zampettano infreddoliti i passeri e lustreggiano le bacche rosse degli agrifogli.
Nell’atrio luminoso del Princess of Wales Conservatory, una disegnatrice orientale traccia su carta bianca la sinuosità delle orchidee, pendenti, come ghirlande profumate, dagli alti soffitti di vetro. Sull’acqua placida del laghetto , come graziose ballerine in vesti azzurre e candide, fluttuano le ninfee , mentre fra nuvole di tiepido vapore, coppie di farfalle si inseguono giocosamente.
Davanti all’elegante palazzo vittoriano…
che ospita il Museo One, un cigno bianco naviga regale fra la luce rosa e le tinte aranciate dell’edificio che, magicamente riflesse sullo specchio dell’acqua , sembrano preannunciare il tramonto. Mi fermo a riprendere la bellezza di questo quadro. Tra la serenità del parco, lungo il sentiero che costeggia il lago, una figura di mamma che spinge il passeggino di un bimbo compare in lontananza. Sono ormai le sole presenza umane in quest’oasi di tranquillità ed il mio ultimo scatto immortalera’ anche il loro passaggio. L’atmosfera dei giardini reali richiama ambientazioni care ai poeti romantici, di qui la scelta di intitolare quell’istante “Recollection in Tranquillity”.
Il brano “L’uomo che amava i draghi”, del Maestro Lorenzo Pescini, sembra evocare la serenità di quell’indimenticabile pomeriggio d’inverno. Con la speranza che le sue note possano infondere in voi la stessa piacevole calma e tranquillita’ di quella giornata, vi auguro un buon ascolto e una buona visione. Getting lost among the tempered colours of a winter afternoon in Kew Gardens, is like finding yourself in a paradise of delightfulness and peace. Here the roar of the city becomes silent and gives voice to the sweet musicality of the joyful robins. Among the pale snowdrops covered with dew, under the oaks’ majesty, shivering sparrows are scampering and the red berries of the holly sparkle vividly.
In the bright atrium of the Princess of Wales Conservatory, an Oriental artist traces on white paper the sinuosity ‘ of the orchids that are pending from the high glass ceilings as perfumed garlands.
On the placid water of the pond, water lilies float like graceful ballerinas in blue and white robes, while pairs of butterflies chase each other playfully among clouds of warm steam.
In front of the elegant Victorian mansion…
that houses the museum 1, a white swan navigates regally on the light pink and orange hues of the building, magically reflected on the surface of the water, seeming to announce the sunset. I stop here to shoot the beauty of this scenery.
In the serenity of the park, on the path along the lake, the figure of a mother pushing a baby stroller appears in a distance. They are now the only human presences in this oasis of tranquillity and my last shot captures their passage.
The atmosphere of the Royal Gardens recalls sceneries dear to Romantic poets, hence the choice of entitling this photograph “Recollection in Tranquillity “.
The piece “The man who loved the dragons” by Maestro Lorenzo Pescini, seems to evoke the serenity of that unforgettable winter afternoon.
