Deep in the night on the Millennium bridge

E’ una sera d’Agosto. Le luci azzurre del Millennium Bridge, irraggiando dalla terra al cielo, illuminano questa tiepida notte d’estate senza stelle. Il ponte, vittoria sulla distanza, passaggio sicuro sulla mutevolezza ed instabilita’ dell’acqua, sottile striscia d’argento su si incrociano migliaia di vite e pulsano infinite emozioni, e’ ora spettacolo per pochi.
Al mio fianco, due fotografi asiatici catturano dettagli architettonici, mentre il sassofono di un artista di strada diffonde nell’aria le note di “Take Five” del Dave Brubek Quartet.
Un uomo e una donna camminano davanti ai nostri obiettivi. Lui si adagia alla ringhiera del ponte, lei si ferma, chiaccherano con lo sguardo rivolto verso il Tower Bridge. Per loro il ponte non e’ passaggio. E’ destinazione. Rimarranno a parlare sul ponte fino al rosseggiare dell’alba.
Mentre scatto…
, noto l’arrivo di una giovane coppia che cammina verso Saint Paul, tenendosi per mano. Per loro il ponte e’ invece passaggio, un percorso che faranno insieme. Il mio ultimo scatto immortala le loro sagome ormai giunte alla fine di quel cammino, a pochi passi dalla maestosita’ della catedrale.
L’immagine “Deep in the night on the Millennium Bridge” riflette le emozioni di quella notte d’estate e racconta un attimo di quelle vite sconosciute che quella sera si incontravano sul ponte.
Questo “istante” e’ parte della collezione creata per il video “London – Bridge of Emotions”, dove Il brano “L’uomo che Amava I Draghi” del Maestro Lorenzo Pescini accompagna armoniosamente le emozioni di quella sera. L’editing del video e’ opera dell’artista Sandro Sansone.

Deep in the night on the Millennium bridge

It’s an August evening. The blue lights of the Millennium Bridge, radiating from the earth to the sky, illuminate this warm summer night without stars. The bridge, victory over the distance, safe passage on the instability and mutability of water, thin silver strip on which thousands of lives cross each other every day, and where endless emotions pulsate, it’s now a show for few.
On my side, two Asian photographers are capturing the architectural details of the bridge, while the saxophone of a street artist fills the air with the tune of “Take Five” by the Dave Brubek Quartet.
A man and a woman walk in front of our lenses. He lies down on the bridge railing, she stops in front of him, they chat with each other, while looking towards Tower Bridge. For them, the bridge is not a passage. It’s a destination. They will stay on the bridge, chatting until the red glow of dawn.
While shooting…
I notice the arrival of a young couple walking towards Saint Paul, holding each other’s hands. For them, the bridge is a passage, a path that they will share together. My last shot captures their silhouettes reaching the end of that road, just a few steps away from the majesty of the cathedral.
The image “Deep in the night on the Millennium Bridge ” reflects the emotions of that summer night and tells about a moment of those unknown lives that met each other on the bridge that night.
This “instant” is part of the collection created for the video “London – Bridge of Emotions” , where the song “The Man Who Loved Dragons ” by Master Composer Lorenzo Pescini harmoniously accompanies the emotions of that evening. The editing of the video is by the artist Sandro Sansone.
